Genuinely Good Student Recipes: Carbonara (£1.50)
This is possibly the best recipe for carbonara you’ll ever read. This dinner is unbelievably cheap, so tasty that you’ll crave it every night and really quick to make. You just need a few ingredients and the rest are optional. Enjoy!
You Will Need:
- 1 Mug of Pasta Shells
- 3 Rashers Streaky Smoked Bacon
- 1 tbsp Creme Fraiche, half-fat
- Handful Grated Cheese, 30% less fat
- Optional: 1 Onion, 2 Cloves of Garlic, chopped
Bring a pan of water to the boil and add the pasta shells. Cook for around 10 mins until tender.
Chop your bacon into small strips using scissors, and then fry in a frying pan (no oil needed). Once it’s beginning to brown, add a chopped onion and garlic if using.
Once pasta is cooked, drain and return to pan.
Mix in your crispy bacon, creme fraiche and cheese.
Serve with black pepper.
